Fire extinguishers (hand-portable type B-I or B-II) must be carried on all motorboats that have one or more of the following:
- Inboard engines
- Closed compartments where portable fuel tanks may be stored
- Double bottoms not sealed to the hull or not completely filled with flotation materials
- Closed living spaces
- Closed stowage compartments where combustible or flammable material is stowed
- Permanently installed fuel tanks
