## How can I make a change of ownership for the boat registration?

A **change of ownership** must be sent **in writing** to the Registrar at your ship's [port of registry](http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/oep-vesselreg-registration-menu-2311.htm#ports), and must include the following documents:

- Original [Bill of Sale PDF](http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Corp-Serv-Gen/5/Forms-Formulaires/searchrs.aspx?formnumber=84-0015) to be completed by the seller;
- [Statement of qualification for vessel registration](http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Corp-Serv-Gen/5/Forms-Formulaires/searchrs.aspx?formnumber=84-0002) [PDF Version] to be completed by the purchaser;
- [Appointment of an Authorized Representative](http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Corp-Serv-Gen/5/Forms-Formulaires/searchrs.aspx?formnumber=84-0035) [PDF Version] (if applicable);
- Payment of the appropriate fee. Please refer to the [Vessels Registry Fees Tariff](http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/SOR-2002-172/) for information on the costs associated with a change of ownership.

## How can I do a change of address for my boat registration?

A **change of address** must be sent **in writing** (via e-mail, mail or facsimile) to the Registrar at your ship's [Port of Registry](http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/oep-vesselreg-registration-menu-2311.htm#ports) and should include the following information:

- name of vessel
- official number
- port of registry
- owner's name

**There is no fee for a change of address. **

if your address changes, you must contact us to update your information.  Otherwise your registration may be suspended or canceled.** **
