Complying with Officers in Hawaii
Officers of DLNR’s Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) have the authority to stop, halt or inspect vessels to enforce State and Federal boating laws on all State waters. The United States Coast Guard also has enforcement authority on federally controlled waters.
Any person operating a vessel on the waters of the State is required to bring their vessel to a stop after having been requested or signaled to do so by a law enforcement officer. The operator must comply with the directives of that officer.
