## I just bought a new pleasure craft. How do I license it?

By submitting the request for a new Pleasure Craft Licence through the **[Pleasure Craft Electronic Licensing System (PCELS)](https://www.pcl-pep.snbservices.ca/1001/default.aspx)**, you will be required to upload supporting documentation. Please have the following documents in the proper file format ready for upload before starting the online process - click on the link for additional information.

- The **[proof of ownership or bill of sale document](https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/marine-safety/pleasure-craft-licences-questions-answers#a10)**
- A copy of a signed **[valid piece of government-issued identification](https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/marine-safety/pleasure-craft-licences-questions-answers#a9)** from each owner whose name is to appear on the pleasure craft licence
- A **[current full side-view colour photograph of the pleasure craft](https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/marine-safety/pleasure-craft-licences-questions-answers#a14)**
- A " **[Third Party Authorization Letter](https://tc.canada.ca/sites/default/files/migrated/3rd_party_auth_letter_eng.pdf)**" if applicable (cases where someone other than the owner(s) is submitting on behalf of the owner(s)).

### Send in your application by post

If you choose to send in your application by post, you must submit the following documents:

- a completed **[Form 84-0172E, Application for Pleasure Craft Licence](http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Corp-Serv-Gen/5/Forms-Formulaires/searchrs.aspx?formnumber=84-0172E) **(PDF Version, 1178 KB) *;
- **[proof of ownership](https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/marine-safety/pleasure-craft-licences-questions-answers#a10) **of the pleasure craft;
